Hip-Hop Blows Up All Over GGP on August 31
Sunday, August 31, is turning out to be a huge day for hip-hop heads. DJ Kevvy Kev (of Stanford-based KZSU radio show "The Drum") is throwing a big-ass party in Golden Gate Park: His "Bang the Drum" festival sets up a stage in the park's Peacock Meadow, and on that stage will be Das EFX, Canibus, Dan the Automator, the East Flatbush Project, Peanut Butter Wolf, Rec League, Delinquent Monastery, Pam the Funkstress, the Oakland Faders DJ crew, and more. Meanwhile, across GGP at Elk Glen Cove, additional DJ crews are throwing their own BBQ party called "Doin' It In the Park", whereat DJs Apollo, Shortkut, Chuy Gomez, Sake One, Sir Tipp, Jah Yzer, T.D. Camp, Hakobo, and others spin hip-hop and reggae. So how much will all these jams cost your wallet? Nada. It's all free, all day, and all ages are welcome. — J. Graham
