Laf A Lots Car Show, Ol Cheeky Bastards and The Trouble With Monkeys
Thee Parkside

The cars and bikes lined up on Wisconsin Saturday afternoon ranged from shiny and brand new to old and busted. The Last Originals strolled in with 6 or 7 vintage cars and a very cute group of ladies looking like pin-up dolls with their hair done up and their lips painted ruby red. I didn't stay at the car show outside Thee Parkside long enough to see the long awaited Stella Royale. BUT, I did catch the Ol' Cheeky Bastards and The Trouble With Monkeys inside the bar.
The Cheeky Bastards is a Celtic-ish punk band that brought out the bag pipes and a hand drum on occasion. They played a good set including "Church of the Holy Spook" and "Bottle of Smoke." The Trouble With Monkeys is a fun filled rock/80s/punk band - they describe their sound as “... a barrel of Monkeys fighting over a parking space at Westfield Plaza.” They were entertaining to watch, playing covers of Ramones and The Monkees. At one point, one band member even busted out a helmet-cam (it looked as hilarious as it sounds), which only lasted for one song because the camera kept bumping into the mike.
More car show shots behind the cut...
