SFJAZZ Drops Names for Its 26th Annual S.F. Jazz Festival
![]()
Not so much a traditional "festival" as a full month of stellar music — including zydeco, soul, gospel, funk, Afrobeat, Cuban descarga, Hawaiian ukulele, and American pop in addition to traditional bop — the annual San Francisco Jazz Festival returns in October and SFJAZZ has just announced the headliners. Take a deep breath because here's a long list of names: Peter Apfelbaum, Dave Brubeck, Ravi Coltrane, Marilyn Crispell, Toumani Diabaté, Grant Green Jr., Charlie Haden, Donald Harrison, Wayne Horvitz, Rebeca Mauleón, Randy Newman, Maceo Parker, Bernard Purdie, Arturo Sandoval, Jimmy Scott, Archie Shepp, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Mavis Staples, Cecil Taylor, Reuben Wilson, and Mitch Woods. That's just a taste of the complete lineup; for more details, visit the SFJAZZ event website. — J. Graham
