MP3 of the Day: Girl Talk

In one song there's a little Missy Elliott, some Nu Shooz, chunks of Cheap Trick, Heart, and Hendrix, a block of Public Enemy and Eminem, and wait, did I detect a bit of Beirut? There are few DJs who skillfully pack that many tracks into a single song, and Girl Talk is amongst the elite. While the mashup genre as a whole has lost some luster to these ears (is it that hard to play most of the song when you're at a club?), Girl Talk's latest release, Feed the Animals, has some choice nuggets sampled in there. (I'm such a sucker for "American Girl," I love the sped up riff in "Give Me a Beat.") The best part about Feed? It's one of those "pay what you want" deals, so you can name your price at Girl Talk's MySpace page and go from there. Today we have the track "No Pause" (the aforementioned mashup of everything from Marshall Mathers to Missy) available for the low, low cost of free. -- Jennifer Maerz
