We just found out about a live-music Tribute to Morrissey's Birthday at the Knockout, over where Mission and Valencia bash into each other. We figure it'll be good since Morrissey aficionados generally take themselves very seriously and would shrink from performing crap. More importantly, anyone who's ever seen or heard the Music Lovers has had guilty desires to hear Ted the lead singer cover Morrissey, and he's one of the performers.

The Music Lovers' own original songs are focking gorgeous and all (new record out in August, after they tour Europe), but Ted's voice is just dreamy and almost-sarcastic enough that you can't help picturing him in a compromising position with "Shakespeare's Sister." So we were filled with joy to hear he'll be there. Sedate, sorrowful, desolately sumptuous joy, of course. Also performing are Keven of Veil Veil Vanish, Charles Gonzalez, Alex of the Reverse, and someone performing under the intriguing name of Orlando. --Hiya Swanhuyser
