Note to Cute Amnesia-going Hipsters: Give Us Back Our Bar!

Stop going to Jazz Night at Amnesia! The Django Rhinehart Reinhardt-inspired Gaucho (lastnight with Ralph Carney sitting in on clarinet, flute, other flute, bouzouki, theremin, double-necked flying v … kidding about some of those) is good, but it's not for young pretty people, so stop showing up. And as for Mitch Marcus' bebop combo, um, JAZZ IS FOR DORKS, and little hipster cuties need to stop locking their bikes up outside and just give us our neighborhood bar back. Who rips up the floor with partner-dances anymore? Who are you people? Go home! Or at least please look more haggard and schlubby. Some of us just want to be able to get to the bar (let alone sit in a seat! Jesus!) and enjoy our outdated musical genre in peace. --Hiya Swanhuyser

Hiya, we love you, and thanks for poking fun at us. God forbid we take ourselves too seriously. What a tribute to our little, red hovel that you would care so much. And thank you to everyone who Hiya was poking fun at. We love you, too, and hope you keep nuturing our floor with that hot dancing and swanky dress. One thing, Hiya: You spelled Reinhardt wrong. Love, Shawn (the owner)

PS- If you want to go to a bar and drink by yourself get out of the mission. Music is for the people, and if the music is good then the people will come. You don't own the mission. Or Amnesia. So if you think Jazz night has suddenly lost its authenticity, get lost... you never really loved the music anyway.
