Ladies Do It Gladiator Style on this Week's Top Model
If you missed it last week (I did), here's the update -- the ladies are in Rome (insert screams here). They shot a commercial and surprise, surprise, Lauren was awful. Nothing could help that girl overcome her awkwardness. The judges criticized Whitney for acting fake. Obviously Lauren went home, so this week starts with five girls. It's starting to get down to the wire and hopefully after this season Tyra will realize the show has become a joke and never have another cycle ever again.
Fatima still thinks she rules and that it's OK to judge the other girls. She said Kat belongs behind a desk? How sweet. The girls received their first Tyra Mail (finally it's not electronic) and headed to some Roman ruins where they saw Gladiators fighting. Apparently Fatima believes violence is terrible. Boo hoo. The girls learned how to fight like Gladiators and pose at the same time. They became skilled in the art of ass kicking, but stayed tough and pretty too. They got to battle each other and Tranny and Fatima faced off. I somehow wish they could have killed each other and so wouldn't have to hear from either of them anymore. The ladies went to get changed into slutty Roman clothes (AWESOME) and when they walked out Mr. and Mrs. Jay were there to help out with the shoot.
Tyra, you have truly outdone yourself. For this challenge the Gladiator Gals fought against some muscled Gladiator dude. According to Whitney he's a "huge, monster, ogre like being." Poignant. The work their fiercest and fighter-est poses. Fatima felt so scared of the Gladiator that she forgot all her moves, while Tranny looked pretty but didn't follow the rules. The whole process looks delightfully cheesy, just like everything else on Top Model. The winner had two options -- either take 1000 euros to shop alone or split the money and shop with a friend. Whitney won and decided to take Anya. Aw, her generous side. Then they shopped 'till they dropped.
New Tyra Mail read "Now your inexperience should be a thing of the past. Love, Tyra." The girls left for their challenge and arrived at a 600 year old castle with frescos from the Renaissance. The challenge was a Renaissance recreation shot by Tyra. The ladies knew that when Ty shoots they best step it up. What she says goes. Plus, who wants bad news going back to panel?
The costuming looked adorable. Except, what were they thinking with the hair? Who pairs beautiful dresses and jewels with tacky hair? Kat worked the 80's a little too hard especially with her "walk like an Egyptian." Tranny looked like Cruella DeVille and Tyra ate it up. Of course she managed to gloat it up too. Annoying and evidently threatening to the other girls. After a horrible performance at the challenge Fatima rocked her photo shoot. For the first time, the outfits at the shoot made Whitney LOOK plus size. She kept sticking her bust out and posing sexily, but not high fashion. Lastly Anya struggled a bit, but took direction well. She worked well with her body and almost made the horrendous hair look cute.
Tyra greeted the girls in French, not Italian when they arrived at panel. She also made a mockery of the prizes. Doesn't she always give the girls trouble for not taking Top Model seriously enough? Follow your own advice, woman! The judges commended Anya tons. Then Tyra explained her nervousness about shooting in artificial lighting for the first time. They loved Fatima too. Tyra said she looked like a ballerina and every photo was great. Paula said she felt jealous at the first two photos because they were so beautiful. Tranny looked horrible at the panel, but her photo was gorgeous. Tyra anticipated a horrible shoot with her, but was pleasantly surprised. Kat was good, but she just lacked something. Whitney's body looked beautiful, but the judges expected a lot more. The judges deliberated a ton and the highlight was hearing that Tranny looks "game show ish." And the photo order? Fatima (boo!), Tranny (boo pt 2!) and Anya. Kat and Whitney comprised the final two. Either way one cool lady was gone. Ultimately Whitney got her picture and Kat went back to the US. Props to Top Model for keeping a plus size lady this late in the competition.
