Emily Jane White's Other Band at the Elbo Room Tonight

You already know about the white hotness of Emily Jane White: The sweet resonance of her voice, her superhero guitar powers, and the literary bent of the lyrics on Dark Undercoat are all well documented. Good reviews have come in from Spin, iTunes, the Fader, and our own Jennifer Maerz – White gets a lot of love. She's just back from touring in Europe, even venturing to France, where most people pretty much hate good music. White seems to have found the sliver of taste-havers over there, though -- they love her. Her other band, the Diamond Star Halos, is a three-woman getup with pretty harmonies and a scruffed-up Cowboy Junkies sound who haven't played in like forever. The Santa Cruz-born trio also includes former members of Hell of Fine, the Gibbs, and Sweat It Out. Diamond Star Halos start at 9 p.m. at the Elbo Room; Empty Rooms, Big Light, and Top Critters play too. --Hiya Swanhuyser
