The Weekend Hitlist: 4/18-4/20
Oh yes it's that time again -- the weekend! Hopefully the weather will hold up (but not be as hot as last weekend) so you can head out and get your fun on.
Friday night head to the SOMA Artists Studios for their Spring Open House and SF Suicide Prevention and Silent Auction. The silent auction starts at 6pm and they'll bids start at $25 to benefit Suicide Prevention. They'll be food! The open house lasts all weekend. If comedy is more your thing head to Cobb's to hear Ty Barnett from "Last Comic Standing." For music lovers, Elf Power will play the Bottom of the Hill for $10 at 10pm with doors at 8:30pm. They're one of the most adorable bands Athens, Georgia has to offer!
There are a million events happening on Saturday. Head to Ocean Beach for the 3rd Annual Ocean Beach Cleanup to celebrate Earth Day. The good cause starts at 9am and afterwards there's a pizza party! That night Kanye's "Glow in the Dark" tour hits San Jose. If you have a car (and a lot of money), it's not to be missed. For those of you looking to dance without the drive or the pricey ticket, Blasthaus brings you "Fool's Gold and Dim Mak Present: Screaming Bloody Murder Tour 2008" with A-Trak, Sinden and Steve Aoki. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door and the party lasts from 10pm to 4am at 103 Harriet ST.
On Sunday most of you will be celebrating 420, but those who aren't can attend the "Thread is a Fashion" shopping event at the Galleria, which will have great clothes, art and booze. What more could you want? Or for those looking for some free fun there's the Green Apple Festival in Golden Gate Park featuring Brett Dennen, Younder Mountain String Band, Mickey Hart & Friends and more. The perfect way to celebrate the planet! Sunday evening has hip hop options in both San Francisco and Oakland. Cypress Hill plays the Fillmore at 8pm and tickets are $41.50 or Jay-Z (so sexy) and Mary J Blige play the Oakland Arena with ticket prices ranging from $57 - $143.50. Maybe Beyonce will be hiding backstage!
