Go Sees, Puddles and Plus Size Blues on This Week's Top Model

Wed Apr 02, 2008 at 09:24:39 PM

cw-antm10-claire-container_011026-689014-500x667.jpg It always starts with consumable goods. I thought models lived on a steady diet of coke, cigarettes and water, so why the bickering? This week, Lauren threw out the ground-y coffee Fatima made, so Fatima obviously freaked out and Lauren retaliated in all her bitchy glory. Imagine one of these ladies letting things go. Impossible. Also, who drinks coffee out of wine glasses?

Finally the Tyra mail came and read: "If you don't make it here, you won't make it anywhere. Love, Tyra." Some girls assumed that referenced Broadway, others were too exhausted to inquire.

When the girls arrived at their destination, they met with Karen Lee from Elite Models and some other model chick that no one has ever heard of. They announced the challenge -- the girls must break into two groups and using GPS phones (not cabs) they venture out on go sees.

Group 1 (Claire, Stacy Ann, Whitney, and Dominique) visited Pamella Roland who informs Whitney that plus size won't work in her runway show. Instead of being sensitive, Dominique seemed amused by Whitney's struggle and anticipated her leaving. Meanwhile Group 2 (Katarzyna, Anya, Lauren, and Fatima) visited Shoshanna Gruss and model swim wear. The groups switch and Claire kissed Gruss' ass while Whitney received positive attention because the line advocates for a variety of figures on the runway. Way to represent all the ladies!

Eventually the groups joined for a go see at Alice and Olivia. The designer seriously looks like a 15 year old and claimed Lauren has a "horse walk." HA! Ann Shoket showed up to help announce winners and prizes. Group 1 won the challenge and their prize was a "Summer Beauty Story" shoot for the June Seventeen Magazine. Stacy Ann booked the most shows.

The next Tyra Mail told the girls to "put your best face forward, but be careful not to get washed out. Love, Tyra." The girls walked into the venue to see Mr. Jay on a huge treadmill. Really, enough with the over-dramatization. According to Anya "he looked like a robot, like a silver robot." You know what they say, god doesn't give with two hands. Though you'd think he would give a little in the smarts department.

The photo shoot attempted to emulate FUERZABRUTA for photographer Mike Rosenthal. The set up had Rosenthal laying on the ground under a big clear piece of plastic with water on top of it. The girls posed flat on the plastic and Rosenthal took the photos from below. The result was an under the water sort of look. Before the shoot the stylists cut off all Katarzyna's hair into a bob like her styling last week. It looks damn good. Once the shoot began the girls realized the difficulty of posing in water and got off to a rough start. Claire went first and despite Mr. Jay's protest she insisted on belly flopping onto the plastic. She hit face first and hurt her neck. Serves her right for ignoring Mr. Jay.

The girls went to panel where guest judge was Karen Lee, one of the challenge judges. Upon seeing Katarzyna's new hair Paulina said "that weird Eastern European tackiness is now gone." Dude! She was never tacky. The pictures were lovely for the most part. Whitney's pose looked very fetus like and Dominique's hair looked totally There's Something About Mary. After deliberation Fatima received her photo first followed by Anya, Katarzyna, Whitney, Stacy Ann and Dominique (trannnnnny). Lauren and Claire were the final two. The judges felt Lauren seemed too awkward in person and Claire started taking bad photos. Lauren gets to stay and Claire gets to go home to her baby. I thought I'd be sad when Claire had to leave, except she's such a bitch now that I could care less.
