(Erik Friedlander by Kurt Gellersted)

Lee Friedlander's current exhibition at the SF MOMA is one of my favorite photography displays hosted by the museum. Specifically his black and white photos reflecting scenes both outside the car and from the side view mirror are visually stunning. Included in that show are a couple shots of Lee's son Erik as a small boy. Erik's grown up quite a bit since then, and is now an accomplished cellist who has worked with everyone from John Zorn to Courney Love. Witness the art of Erik and Lee Friedlander working in unison when Erik Friedlander performs at the MOMA tomorrow, April 24, at 8 p.m. His most recent CD is an experimental concept based on family road trips, a theme that reflects his father's work nicely. -- Jennifer Maerz
