The Lowbrow Art Sale: Jeff Soto, Nathan Spoor & Kathie Olivas

Jeff Soto "War Clouds"

A new print from Jeff's solo show, "Storm Clouds" that happened last September at the Jonathan Levine Gallery is being released. This has to be one of my favorite pieces from that show, well pretty much every painting at that show was my favorite but not all of them are being turned into prints. The staining in the background contrasted with his perfect linework looks amazing. This print is 20" x 14", in an edition of 50. The original was only 18" x 12", so the print is a tad bigger. E-mail Jeff if you would like to get one of these before they are officially released.

Nathan Spoor "The Angles Of Transference"

Nathan Spoor has an amazing painting style, very surreal and the color schemes are soothing in a way. I have read quite a few articles that compare what Nathan does to artists like Dali, and I agree for the most part. He's another one of those artists like Craola & Nathan Ota that just really know how to use acrylic paint to the fullest. This is a canvas print, varnished and stretched onto a wood frame. It's limited to 30.

Kathie Olivas "The Desecrationists"

Kathie Olivas is having a solo show at the Gallery 1988 in San Francisco that opens February 29th. The show looks amazing, it's really staggering how much art she produced for this show. This print is from one of the paintings that will be shown this Friday. I'm positive this print and other will be available at the opening, but why fight the crowd? Order it here and your guaranteed to get one. This print is singed, numbered and limited to only 25.

Michael Shapcott "Salt Water"

A painter out of Plainville, Ct, Michael Shapcott makes these amazing figurative works. I interviewed him this last week on the Creep Machine and it has to be my most in depth interview yet. He launched these prints the same week. This one has to be my favorite of his, it's an amazing portrait and the drips and staining really make it even more dynamic. You can order this print, mounted, framed canvas and many other ways.

Casey Weldon "Applebomb"

The last print is showed from Casey was that amazing AT-AT print. His gallery is huge and each painting he has made can be turned into a print, so it's quite hard to choose just one. I loved the colors and the layout of this one. All of Casey's prints seem to be open editions, so no rush to get one but you don't want to wait just in case he tries to pull a fast one you.
