The Lowbrow Art Sale: Chet Zar, Stuntkid & Caia Koopman

Chet Zar "Crybaby"
zar_crybaby.jpg
Chet Zar is starting out the new year giving us two new prints. Both are signed and numbered, and limited to 50. The print shown is 13" x 16" and is from a painting that was at the "Sanctuary" show that happened in October at the Limited Addiction Gallery. Take a look at the painting all framed up Here.
This gives you a good idea of how killer this print will look once you find a cool frame for it.

Stuntkid "Jelly Vomit"

Jason Levesque, otherwise known as Stuntkid, is not only a killer illustrator but also an accomplished photographer as well. The photos that he takes are really top notch, but it's the illustration work that caught my eye the quickest. He has a very silky style, and always has some really great imagery in each piece. This one is a good example of that. Thinking about someone puking up a jellyfish is just hardcore. This print is signed, and framed and from what it looks like it's the only one. It was featured in the Grafuck 3 release party at Gallery Nucleus.

Caia Koopman "Out on a Limb"
OutOnALimb.jpg
A freelance illustrator out of California, Caia has done work for such clients as: Quiksilver/Roxy, Hurley, Op & a huge list of magazines. I recently saw her work at Gallery 1988 in San Francisco, and after seeing it up close I was really impressed with how detailed and controlled her work is. The way she paints reminds me a bit of how Roland Tamayo paints, both artists are very skilled with acrylic. The prints she has made of her work are great representations of her original paintings, no disappointments here.

Esao Andrews "Seperate Lives"

Esao just finished up a show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York. This was one of the pieces that was at the show, and was my favorite out of the bunch. I love figurative work but it's nice to have a change now an then, and it's also pretty rare to see work that is void of figures. This also has to be one of the coolest looking houses I have ever seen. I would totally live there. This print is debossed and signed in an edition of 40.

Geoff Shafer "Sweeb"

Blueflip Art now carries three prints from New Jersey artist Geoff Shafer. I've seen this print named "Sweeb" and "Squeeb". Apparently "Sweeb" means super cool, and "Squeeb" means dork. For me this little squid guy is super cool, I'd kick it with him. The colors used in this print are great, and I love the expression.
