Tommy Guerrero Brings Back the Bastard in February

Categories: Music

The Bay's favorite funkateer, old school skateboarder and blues bastard returns with a new album next month. Tommy Guerrero's eighth offering, Return of the Bastard, promises that listeners will chill 'till the next episode, guaranteed. Here's the track list:

Bay Area icon Tommy Guerrero has a pretty sweet life - sweet like the easygoing, toe-tapping melodies of his music. Guerrero celebrates the 10-year anniversary of his debut album (Loose Grooves and Bastard Blues) with a new release on Galaxia Records, Return of the Bastard, due out February 26, 2008. Guerrero, whom NPR aptly called a "one man groove factory," plays bass, guitar, kalimba and percussion through the album's 15 tracks. There are additional bits from Chuck Treece on drums, Brazilian artist Curumin on vocals and Fredo Ortiz on congas. Tommy Guerrero's recordings are marked by soulful, atmospheric instrumentation. They are the amalgamation of tunes that stream through his head, usually captured on the first take. They are timeless soundscapes to your laid-back afternoons, or mornings or nights. Return of the Bastard is TG's eighth release. 1. and the folklore continues 2. la califas perdido 3. i would go with you 4. no time for time 5. bloodinthemud 6. calling for ya! 7. zapata's boots 8. mosaic man 9. what have i been doing since i was gone 10. paper switchblade 11. never forget to remember 12. run with the hunted 13. new terrain 14. 40 summers 15. the simple man
