Porn, Pirate Bay Likely Topics in Prof Timothy Wu vs. AT&T's Richard Clarke Symposium Saturday

NERD FIGHT! Columbia Law Professor and Net Neutrality expert Timothy Wu vs. AT&T's Richard Clarke in the steel caaaaaaage Saturday! Two man enta, ONE MAN LEAVE! AT&T has admitted to monitoring peer-to-peer file-sharing traffic, amid similar news that Comcast filters BitTorrent traffic. (Read this week's cover story on that.)That's fighting words to Tim Wu. More info on the symposium after the jump.
Following the Wednesday announcement by AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson at the World Economic Forum that the company may begin to monitor peer-to-peer file sharing networks, AT&T appears to be getting closer to plans that it started announcing last summer to crack down on intellectual property violations through its network. Not everyone likes the idea of AT&T looking over their shoulder, especially Timothy Wu, professor at Columbia Law School.
This Saturday, at the University of San Francisco School of Law's symposium, The Toll Roads? The Legal and Political Debate on Net Neutrality, Tim Wu will sit with AT&T's Richard Clarke, Assistant Vice President for Regulatory Planning and Policy at AT&T, in a panel to discuss precisely what has been scratching the surface in the news the past several days: Network Neutrality.
Joined by the Open Internet Coalition's Markham Erickson, TechRepublic's George Ou, and the Phoenix Center for Advanced Legal & Economic Public Policy Studies, panelists will engage in discussion and debate of this critical issue.
The Symposium will be webcast live online, allowing viewers at home to
ask questions through a chat functionality.
