News of the our favorite Mexican prog metal screamers' New Year's date just gets better with today's announcement that Peanut Butter Wolf and some others have been added to the now 7-hour event.

Bringing back the classic marathon New Years Eve performances of old, this seven plus hour event includes full concert sets from The Mars Volta (both acoustic and electric), The Eternals, a stunning sychronized video DJ performance by the legendary Peanut Butter Wolf, a gallery showcasing the artwork of Jeff Jordan (The Mars Volta album artist), full DJ sets from Nobody and DJ Dennis, as well as special guest performances.

Backed by a custom liquid light display, The Mars Volta are planning a much anticipated, never before seen acoustic set in addition to their full rock concert set. During DJ performances, fans will be treated to a series of short films handpicked by the members of The Mars Volta.

Full release after the jump.

The Mars Volta has confirmed a January 29, 2008 release for its fourth studio album, The Bedlam In Goliath (GSL/Universal). The album was produced by the band's own Omar Rodriguez Lopez.

The Bedlam In Goliath's release will be preceded by a one-off New Year's Eve extravaganza at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The band promises "una serata con amici e sorprese presentata in un modo straordinario." Attendees should note that costumes are required.

The Mars Volta was founded in 2001 by Cedric Bixler Zavala and Omar Rodriguez Lopez. The band's previous recorded output has included its 2003 debut De-Loused In The Comatorium, 2005's Frances The Mute and last year's Amputechture. The Bedlam In Goliath finds Bixler Zavala and Rodriguez Lopez joined by returning members Marcel Rodriguez Lopez, Adrian Terrazas Gonzales, Pablo Hinojos- Gonzales, Isaiah Ikey Owens, Juan Alderete de la Pena, new drummer Thomas Pridgen and full-time Red Hot Chili Pepper and frequent Volta collaborator John Frusciante. The Mars Volta are the recipients of the 2008 Golden Cobra Award.

Tickets for The Mars Volta are $55.00 in advance for general admission plus applicable service charges. Tickets can be purchased online at www.livenation.com, Ticketmaster outlets, The Fillmore box office, or charge by phone at 415-421-TIXS, 408-998-TIXS or 510-625-TIXS. This event is all ages.
