The Hamburger Eyes empire is expanding. First, the talented self-taught photographers launched their lauded magazine. Then they opened a "photo epicenter" earlier this year in the middle of taqueria town, down near 24th and Mission (on 26 Lilac). Now they're hosting openings at the casual second-floor cubbyhole on the regular. Tonight Hamburger head Ray Potes is showing a collection of work titled "Android" that ranks high on my recommended list. The show opens from 5 until 9 p.m.

When you're done there, scoot on over to the Haight for the grand opening of RVCA's new gallery.

RVCA is a high end skater-dude clothing store but they also sell really cool select art books and DVDs. They're connected with some killer artists -- Hamburger Eyes' Stefan Simikich has a show up there now -- publishes the gorgeous indie art mag ANP, which definitely covers some great stuff, local and otherwise. The store is in the old Gap space at Haight and Ashbury, offering much-improved merchandise as well as adding another gallery to the slow build of galleries in the Haight 'hood (Giant Robot, Fifty24SF, Lower Hater, et all). The RVCA opening starts at 7 p.m. -- Jennifer Maerz
