Jonathan Weiner "Watchdogs, 2007"
watchdogs-lores.jpg
The last time I featured a print by Jonathan Weiner was in the first few weeks of this column. He finally has a new print out, and it looks amazing. It's an offset lithograph on 80-pound patina matte paper, and it's huge, 27" by 34 1/4". I've always been hooked on the work of Jonathan. I love the muted colors that he uses, and the overall melancholic feel it gives me. It also looks as though you could fall right into one of his paintings.

This is a presale; the print, which is limited to 500, will start shipping on November 6. The price is very reasonable, so don't wait I don't think it will last long.

Joe Sorren "Bump"

An artist from the unbelievably hot city of Phoenix, Sorren is another one of the brushy type of artists I'm gaining more and more appreciation for. His work kind of freaked me out when I was first introduced to it; it must be the heads on those figures, which I'm now quite fond of. This print is from a painting currently on show at Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City. It might just be the only way anyone like me can ever afford to get one of his works, since the original sold for $80,000. The print is limited to 50, signed and numbered on cotton rag.

Glenn Barr "Suspension"

If I could pull off buying every print Glenn Barr ever made, I would. I love his work that much. It's colorful, dynamic and always filled with great characters. The guy worked on Ren & Stimpy so he had me hooked right off the bat. This is another amazing piece by him, and from what I can find, one of the cheapest places to buy this specific print. It's an offset lithograph, and by the looks of it, there are only two left. I believe these last two are artists' proofs.

Fuco Ueda "Symbiosis 7 Cats"
ephemera_fuco_Symbiosis7_Cat_500.jpg
Japanese artist Fuco Ueda is getting very popular. Her paintings have remained consistent for years, filled with girls that are in peril, self-inflicted or not. She has an amazing style, using bright blues for shadows and hints of red on that gold skin. It's very striking. This specific print has some craziness going on. A little girl eating raw meat, one feeding a cat, one feeding off the cat. You really have to look closely. I love how she uses what looks like tea stains to add extra texture to the overall piece, a bit like what Stella Im Hultberg does to her works. This print is limited to 50, with a certificate of authenticity.

Kevin Dart "3 Girls"

Working in 3D and traditional art, Kevin Dart has worked for Nintendo and on the Evil Dead: Regeneration game. His traditional art is very smooth, which kind of reminds me of pulp magazines and book covers. I can see those into Keith Weesner and even Glenn Barr being fond of his style. He recently had a piece in the "Ninja Show 2" at the Nucleus Gallery. This is a set of three prints, each one being 8" x 10".
