Set your creativity loose because the Bazaar Bizarre is coming to town! The Northern California branch of this nationally renowned craft fair will take place on December 15th 2007 from 11 am to 6 pm at the San Francisco County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. Bazaar Bizarre San Francisco will offer attendees an opportunity to purchase distinctive handmade gifts, groove to local musical entertainment, and attend free demos and craft workshops.

Bazaar Bizarre began in 2001 in the Boston-area as a hodge-podge of friends and acquaintances cobbling together their handcrafted DIY wares to sell and stage an offbeat entertainment extravaganza. In 2004 the Bazaar Bizarre spread to Los Angeles and Cleveland and in 2006 Make took the group under their wing to include the Bazaar Bizarre as part of the Maker Faire in the San Francisco-area every spring. The Bazaars in Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles and San Francisco happen every year during peak holiday shopping season in December.

“For the second year in a row we have been guests of the Maker Faire in San Mateo, CA. Through Maker Faire’s support we have carved out a unique niche in the local indie craft market. We are happy to add to our productions a holiday Bazaar Bizarre highlighting more quality vendors, local entertainment and a series of workshops to learn new crafty skills! ” says Bazaar Bizarre organizer Jamie Chan. This year’s Bazaar Bizarre will include:

The glitterati of the crafting world such as:
• My Windup Bird – San Francisco-based silk-screened t-shirt line
• Recover Your Thoughts – Handmade journals from recycled books
• Mediums to Masses – Oakland-based glass artist
• Miss Alison – Handmade vinyl accessories

Artist led workshops and demos such as:
• Glass Etching for Gifts with Amy Ulrich, owner of Yarn, Paper, Scissors Craft Studio
• REgifting! Reconstruct an old button-down shirt with Miranda Caroligne Burns, author of Reconstructing Clothes for Dummies
• Zip-top shoulder bags made easy with Nancy Flynn co-editor of getcrafty.com, and author of Jeaneology: Crafty Ways to Reinvent Your Old Blues

Music from local DJs such as multimedia artist Mark John of Slide and Spin Studios
