Stoners Release Collective Sigh: Gimmicky Pot-Enhanced Snack Company Busted

If all you stoners out there aren't already familiar, meet local entrepreneurs Tainted Inc. Last week the DEA busted their Oakland factory specializing in gimmicky pot "enhanced" snacks, which included the usual munchy-busting suspects, among them rice krispy treats, marshmallow pies, ice cream, granola bars, brownies, chocolate-covered pretzels and, last but not least, barbecue sauce -- all ranging from $2.50 to $20 a pop. Check out a slideshow here.

In a terrible one-liner not even worthy of the worst Chuck Norris flick, the DEA agent in charge declared that "Tainting candy and other products is not sweet, it is criminal," and pledged to "shut down these production lines, one marijuana-candy factory at a time."

Three people were arrested in the raid, including Tainted Inc. owner Michael Martin of El Sobrante, who apparently built the company on his original "Stoners Tainted Truffle." Authorities say the operation ordered four tons of chocolate in the past two years to make their treats.

Apparently Tainted Inc. didn't get the memo from fellow Oakland pot-gourmands Beyond Bomb, whose company was also raided by the DEA last year, turning up much better spoof labels including Toka-Cola, Pot Tarts, Puff-A-Mint Pattie, Stoney Ranchers and Buddahfinger.
