Every Tuesday, Josh from Creep Machine posts for the SF Weekly culture blog "All Shook Down". Hit it, Josh. -d2

Scott Campbell - "Showdowns" series 2
Campbell_second_set.jpg
Scott is an artist out of San Francisco, and works primarily in watercolor. This print set is form the Crazy4Cult show that went down at the Gallery 1988. The first set of these sold out fast, and I know this new set will as well. They won't be out until Sept. 20th, but "All Shook Down" got a preview of these prints for you. This series has showdowns from 2001, Predator, Exorcist, Fistful of Dollars & The Goonies. You can see booty traps, a baby ruth, mouth and chunk in all their glory. Make sure you click the thumbnail to see the detail on these prints. This print set will sell out very fast.

Shawn Barber - "Kat Von D"
Shawn_Barber-Kat_Von_D.jpg
I have talked about Shawn Barber on All Shook Down before, and after I found this one I had to add it. This print is of celebrity tattoo artist, Kat Von D. You may have seen her on Miami Ink, and now her own show L.A. Ink. If you have seen the show you no doubt have seen the original of this print on the shop wall. It's a beautiful painting of Kat, and I really think Shawn's style make this image even cooler, especially how he manages to get a good portion of her tattoos in. This print is super rare, and will go fast.

Edwin Ushiro - "It Would Have Been Selfish to Ask for More"
EUshiro_grlface.jpg
An Illustrator that graduated from the Art Center, Edwin has an impressive list of clients; Disney, Universal Studios, Sony, Warner Bros and Jim Hensen Co. to name a few. This print is from his latest show at the Nucleus Gallery. All of the pieces he showed were amazing, but this one really stood out. I love the weathered look of the piece, and how dark and moody it is. I can't really tell if she is trying to hide, or getting ready to really put the hurt on someone. There is so much texture on this piece, not matter how dark it looks.

Ken Wong - "Stay, And I Will Love Thee"
kenwong_stay.jpg
A freelance illustrator from Australia, Ken has done work for comics, films, toys and games, and I believe he worked on American McGee's Alice. While I wouldn't mind having some Alice inspired prints, this piece is a little creepy in it's own right. It has a great painterly feel to it, even though the original was a digital piece. I love the color scheme, and the watercolor like textures he was able to get in the octopus and background are great.

Daniel Martin Diaz - "Mysterium Fidei"
dmd_mysterium.jpg
An extremely accomplished artists, Daniel Martin Diaz is one of the big names in the current gallery scene. There are three editions of this book, but the one that I referring to is the Special Edition. The book is 128 pages highlighting the career of the artists. It comes with a cloth slipcase, a cloth clamshell and a signed etching. So you get a print along with the book, can't beat that. The Special edition is limited to 100, the Slipcase and Standard editions don't seem to be limited. The whole presentation of the set is top notch, and to have an etching as an included print is just amazing.

John G says:

Daniel Martin Diaz is the man. I love his work. I like Barber, Ushiro, and Wong, too. But Diaz definitely ranks among my faves.
