Ted Nugent Kills It, Grills It, Wins Over Hippies at the Chron

Over at Bay Area Bites Michael Procopio reflects on his ambivalent relationship with meat and vegetarians with a commentary on Ted Nugent. Yes that Ted Nugent. Specifically, he's talking about the hilarious cookbook, Kill It & Grill It: Ted and Shemane Nugent's Guide to Preparing & Cooking Wild Game and FIsh, which happens to have the best cover of any book ever published.

Comparing your meat-eating habits with Ted Nugent is bound to make just about anybody who doesn't know how to handle a semi-automatic weapon feel like a pussy. After all, Nugent is a man who, it seems, will kill and eat just about anything that once walked the earth. He's also quite a wordsmith, judging by this small, hilarious excerpt:

"Kill tree-dwelling vermin, remove PJs, take to flame, chow down. Drive safely. It's really that simple to get a good meal of squirrel. Limbrat whackin' is truly bigfun any ol' way ya choose it -- bow and arrow, pistol, rifle, scattergun, slingshot, falconry, grenades, and my favorite, flamethrower. How can ya go wrong?"

How indeed, Mr. Nugent? In the end, Procopio finds peace with Nugent's, and his own, carnivorous ways, concluding: "I have to give a grudging amount of respect to anyone who puts his money where his mouth is. Or his mouth where his bow and arrow have been."
