FolkYeah brings fall fun to Big Sur

(Ariel Pink)
For those who like the idea of an intimate weekend music fest where you can sip wine under the redwood trees and retreat between songs to cozy campfires, FolkYeah hosts pretty much the best event this area has to offer. A couple times a year, Britt Govea and crew compile lineups worthy of a drive down the Highway 1 coastline. This October FolkYeah has two concerts on offer. The first is October 13, at the Henry Miller Library, for a high, ahem, noon visual arts and music picnic featuring the Dodos, Residual Echoes, and Akron/Family, among others. A week later, the FolkYeah hosts its seasonal two-night blowout, the Autumn Music Festival, with Fiery Furnaces, Ariel Pink, and more. If you need an excuse to escape the city for the ocean, these gigs are usually way too much fun for one weekend. -- Jennifer Maerz
