New AFI Side Project: Blaqk Audio

Davey Havok and Jade Puget from AFI have a new eyeliner-friendly project in the works called Blaqk Audio. And this is no minor basement-band startup, either, judging from the duo's hyper-slick website. From the couple songs available (full-length debut CexCells is out Aug. 14) the group's sound is straight up Depeche Mode -- all gloomy, moody synth pop, with a wintry video to match. The band plays Popscene Thursday, Aug. 30. -- Jennifer Maerz
