Bottom of the Hill CLOSED! Not.
San Francisco’s beloved music venue Bottom of the Hill (#1 place to rock, says Rolling Stone) remains closed tonight for emergency repairs to its drainage system. (Click on to read why.)
BOTH spokesperson Greg Tietz said long-standing plumbing issues came to head this week, and BOTH needed to get a jackhammer behind the bar to fix the problem.
“Runoff from the ice bins and the bar, all that stuff, is supposed to drain out somewhere to the sewer. A leak in one of the subsurface pipes was causing the problem,” he says.
Emergency repairmen went to work Tuesday, June 5, yet Tuesday night’s show still went down as planned, said Greg. “We got some wooden planks laid down over the hole and the bartenders stood on those.”
BOTH was closed last night for repairs and will stay closed tonight, Thursday night, says Tietz. Friday night's show is up in the air, as well, and fans should check the BOTH web site for immediate updates.
Tietz said the last time BOTH had to close was due to fire a few years back. They were only shut down for two nights, he said.
