Stalking Alan Bamberger

Emily Jane White’s show at Mollusk was greatness. Her voice sounded good and her band is excellent, only partly because her drummer Ross has the smallest drum kit ever. Foot Foot and Jeffrey Manson (who was in the studio this weekend) played too. It was a strange crowd, with lots of older surfer types who talked really loud over all the music. (Overheard hipster: “I am officially weirded out by this place.”)

I think they were there to see the art, which was good and created agony for those of us who want to touch but have too much respect -- a lot of it is games that are apparently meant to be touched. What to do? Alan Bamberger of artbusiness.com was there for a moment. I had also seen him at the Adobe back room gallery while looking at Chris Corales’ reused book and paper collage stuff, which ruled. As an Alan acolyte, I was totally fucking stoked to get my picture in artbusiness. It’s my second time! --By Hiya Swanhuyser (image courtesy emilyjanewhite.com)
