Find For $5: Herbed Garlic Knots at Presidio Pizza Company

Alexis Katsilometes
Admittedly, nothing about this makes much sense. The Presidio Pizza Company is located at Pine and Divisadero, a location that cannot, by even the furthest stretch of the imagination, be considered the Presidio. And while it does indeed sell pizza (and very good pies in fact), the reason we went was for the garlic knots.

We have a profoundly difficult time figuring out how or why people would willingly omit bread from their diets, a lack of understanding that transforms into utter disbelief when we eat The Presidio Pizza Company's Herbed Garlic Knots ($5). Five perfectly chewy balls of dough are served atop a generous bed of finely shredded Parmesan cheese and slathered in a generous coating of butter, proving once again, that butter makes everything infinitely better. Pungent pieces of raw garlic mix with herbaceous flecks of oregano the rolls, creating a combination so addicting that we to inhale the first three in mere seconds.

As we slow ever-so-slightly and try to savor the last two knots, we think that although the restaurant's name may inspire a bit of confusion, it's a small price to pay for food this good.
