Big news to kick off the new year. The team behind the revitalization of North Beach's beloved Tosca Cafe has turned to another local icon. Inside Scoop has the news today that Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield, the New York restauranteur and chef who remodeled Tosca in 2013, has signed a lease on former strip club The Lusty Lady.

Its new incarnation won't be a strip club and it won't be named the Lusty Lady, but Friedman told ISSF that he wants to incorporate some of the "seediness" that the original locale had, and maybe some peep show elements as well (though drinkers will be peeping bartenders, not naked ladies).

The team is currently in an extensive buildout/remodel of the building with architect Seth Boor (The Mill, Southern Pacific Brewing Co.), and says it should open in the second half of this year. There will be cocktails, bar snacks, and wine, and as Inside Scoop noted, it shares a wall with Tosca so should serve as a nice overflow spot for when the restaurant is busy. And Bloomfield and Friedman thus become the new patron saints of North Beach preservation.

I was a stripper for 18 years. I worked at the. lusty lady 11 years ago. I only wish I got treated that well at every other strip club. Maybe it will at least motivate the women to get out of the not so adult industry or sex industry. Its not what it was years ago anyways. Since the economy went to shit

Let the Marina people go there so they can tell all their friends about it the next morning on the Google bus.

Totally agree with Dottie up there. Plus, there ain't enough Fabuloso in the world that will clean the dank splooge out of that place.

totally gross. Well said Dots! Strippers need a union, not an 'faux homage'

Gross! Exploitation. Give these women work not an "homage" your preserving the past does nothing for the feminists who are with out their job or union.
