Every year it seems like the food world has more award ceremonies, but the one coming up next week is one of the more delicious of them -- and you only have to travel to the Ferry Building. The Good Food Awards, now in its fourth year, celebrates not restaurants, chefs or writing but makers themselves, and how tasty, sustainable, and community-minded the food they produce can be.

This year's awards have ten categories: cheese, charcuterie, preserves, chocolate, coffee, confections, pickles, oils, beer, and spirits. Here's the complete list of the 130 finalists, including offerings from hometown favorites like Nosh This, Jarred SF, Four Barrel, Sightglass, Fatted Calf, Inna Jam, Cowgirl Creamery, Magnolia Brewing, and the newish Falcon Spirits.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 16 (6-10 p.m.; a limited number of tickets to the ceremony and reception are available for $125 on Eventbrite).

But here's the best part! Those who don't want to fork over that much cash but still want to get a taste of the action can come to the Saturday Marketplace at the Ferry Building (Jan. 18, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; $5 at the door or early access for $15 in advance). There will be plenty of samples from winners and finalists, and it dovetails nicely with the Ferry Plaza Saturday Market, which means that, if you aren't too stuffed, you can cap off the day with some Primavera chilaquiles on the way out. Sounds like a win-win to us.
