An AmazonFresh delivery truck spotted today at Bush and Montgomery.
Amazon's grocery delivery service, AmazonFresh, has long been rumored to be coming to San Francisco this fall (currently it's available in Seattle and Los Angeles) -- I wrote about it in my August cover story about the latest rise of the online supermarket. Now S.F. residents might be closer than ever to ordering groceries through the same site where they order discount Blu-Ray players, self-coiling garden hoses, and 55-gallon barrels of personal lubricant.

Last Thursday, AllThingsD reported on a possible launch of AmazonFresh this week, and today I've spotted a few of the neon green delivery trucks on San Francisco streets.

Amazon is notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to announcements of its product rollouts, and a query to its public relations department has not yet received a response. We'll keep you posted if we hear anything, in the meantime, is anyone part of a delivery pilot program? Would you order groceries through Amazon?

I love the idea … order and have it delivered in hours .

This is good for neighborhoods without a decent supermarket or grocery store, but everywhere else? Get off your lazy butt and support your local market.

If Amazon delivers from Rainbow I would get it.

No thanks. SF has an abundance of farmers markets and other excellent food sources. No need for the Amazon GMO wagon.

Gee, SF only had Webvan when I lived there... ;) Online grocery shopping & delivery was convenient, but I have to admit that someone loading groceries into your fridge was a little strange. I hope they do well. ;)
