Back in April we introduced you to The Rare Barrel, the Bay Area's newest purveyor of puckering brews. We know that you've been patiently salivating in anticipation of the brewery's sour creations, and this week you'll have your first shot at sampling the goods. Between events in SF and the East Bay, the brewery's entire starting lineup will be on display. Please note that all events are BYOT ("bring your own Tums").

For their initial run, founders Alex Wallash and Jay Goodwin will be serving up four beers that have been two years in the planning:

SKUs Me - a moderately tart golden sour ale fermented with brettanomyces yeast and lactobacillus bacteria and aged in oak barrels. Expect notes of lemon zest and hay.

Ensorcelled - a blend of oak-aged red sour beer and oak-aged black brettanomyces beer. After blending, raspberries were added to the barrels for aging.

Shadows of Their Eyes - a dark sour brew fermented with brettanomyces and lactobacillus. This assertive sour beer has aromatic notes of chocolate and dark fruits.

Proportional Response - this amber sour beer is a blend of an assertive red sour brew and a lightly tart pale sour.Expect notes of cherry and grapefruit from this well-balanced sour.

The brewery's tasting room will be open to the public around the end of November. The 10-tap facility will offer eight in-house sour brews and two guest taps to choose from, along with light snacks. Until then, tide yourself over with this week's launch events:

City Beer Store: Thursday 10/17 at 5pm , serving SKUs Me and Ensorcelled
Beer Revolution: Friday 10/18 at 5pm, serving SKUs Me and Shadows of Their Eyes
Jupiter's Sour Sunday: Sunday 10/20 12-5pm, serving SKUs Me and Proportional Response
