Happy Hour Comes With Plenty of Choice at SoMa StrEat Food Park
I had planned to meet a friend after work last Friday. She suggested happy hour, something that I never refuse. But she also wanted to eat, and this friend who shall remain nameless, well, she's picky -- the vanilla ice cream sans toppings and noodles with only butter type of picky ... the worst kind of picky.
So after much back and forth, we finally agreed on the SoMa StrEat Food Park, where virtually any preference can be satisfied.
From 4 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, the park's StrEat brew truck offers happy hour with $3 sangria, $3 pints, $2 (16-oz.) cans of PBR that can be enjoyed in its covered pavilion complete with flat screen TVs, or at one of its many patio tables.
Each day, a different selection of about 10 trucks can be found serving everything from fish tacos to frozen custard. On our visit, my friend enjoyed "the original" at the Slider Shack, and I chowed down on a sushi burrito from We2Suhi. For dessert, we indulged in a generous serving of loukoumades, Greek doughnut holes drizzled with a honey syrup and topped with cinnamon and walnuts, from the Me Méli truck.
And if weekday happy hours aren't quite your thing, the park also has $12 bottomless mimosas every Sunday until 2 p.m.
SoMa StrEat Food Park is located at 428 11th Street (at Harrison)
