Bacon and Beer Festival. 'Nuff Said.

"When I say beer, you say BACON! And when I say bacon, you say BEER!" If we were real MCs, this is where we'd dramatically drop the mic and slowly back away. Never has there been a more smoldering partnership. At this weekend's San Francisco Bacon and Beer Festival, you can kill two birds by smothering your arteries and livers at the same time. Three cheers for efficiency.

All jokes aside, beer and bacon are a swell partnership. Sweet, roasted, and smoky malts are a lovely complement for rich bacon, and carbonation cuts through the fat and refreshes your palate so that you can enjoy ... more bacon! The fest offers beers from around 25 breweries to pair with bacon-based dishes from roughly the same number of restaurants. Zoe's Meats has stepped up to provide much of the meaty goodness, while the event is presented by local Bison Organic Beer.

Expect beers that will complement the porky delights, such as Bison Chocolate Stout, Peak Organic Espresso Amber, Uncommon Bacon Brown Ale, Iron Springs Flashover Smoked Porter, and Ale Industries Dry Hogged -- a strong ale that has been aged in bourbon barrels with bacon. As if you need any other reason to attend, proceeds will benefit the Sprouts Cooking Club.
