Hayes Valley Farm to Close by June 1
If you, like me, have been meaning to go check out the scene at Hayes Valley Farm but haven't gotten the chance yet, now's the time to make it a priority. The farm's organizers announced on their blog over the weekend that the city of San Francisco is finally going to make use of the land, meaning that the farm has to pull up its roots and find other digs.

From the blog post, it sounds like the split was amicable:
As you may know, Hayes Valley Farm is an interim-use urban farm project. As such, our agreement with the City and County of San Francisco has been to develop the ecology and grow food on the site only until those with prior claim to the land were able to move forward with projects that have been in the works for some time.
The farm plans to be off the property completely by June 1, and is looking for other parcels of land, so by all means drop them a line if you know of any. And get yourself to a beekeeping class, Tuesday yoga, or a public tour while you still can. As Hayeswire reports, the space is slated to become a 5-story, 182-unit apartment complex as soon as the bees and vegetables are gone. Sad.
