Escape the conventional with our list of some untraditional ways to celebrate Valentine's Day, like a dinner that lets you drink an entire bottle of sparkling wine by yourself (you were gonna do that anyway), learn how to open bottles with swords, or enjoy some food truck grub with fancy wine and not-so-fancy wine in sangria.

Jasper's 2nd Annual Anti-Valentine's Day
Where: Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen, 401 Taylor (at O'Farrell), 775-7979
When: Weds., Feb. 13th, starting at 5 p.m.

The Rundown: Feel like hiding out or really looking to pre-game for Valentine's Day? Grab the Menage a Un (Dinner for one $35, Grilled cheese, tomato onion relish, truffle fries) dinner special that comes with a full bottle of sparkling wine. Kill Bill gets fired up at 9pm for some hack-and-slash fun.

All the Single Mavens: Champagne Sabering Class
Where: Maven, 598 Haight (at Steiner), 562-8365
When: Thurs., Feb. 14th, 5:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m.

The Rundown: Join bar manager and Chron Bar Star Kate Bolton in a celebration for all the single mavens. Three specialty cocktails will be happening that night for the occasion, but also sobering lessons. For $75 you get a bottle of bubbly and training on the ancient art of opening the bottle with a machete. Exes might want to steer clear.

National Food Truck Date Day

Cost: Free entry, RSVP online

The Rundown: Celebrate your love for food trucks, DJ dancing, and Skeeball, your friends, and the weirdly nice weather. $4 sangria will quench your thirst, and a special menu from folks like Adams Grub Truck, Smokin' Warehouse, Docs of the Bay, and Naked Chorizo. Who doesn't want that for Valentine's Day?

Viva Amore! Viva Wine! 2013
Where: Rock Wall Wine Company, 2301 Monarch St., Alameda
When: Fri., Feb. 15th, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Cost: $25, buy tickets online

The Rundown: Dig wine and food truck pairings at this party in the old Alameda Naval Air Station with Rockwall. Featuring one of the best views of the bay and some great wines made on premises paired with cuisine from Le Truc, Asena, Toque and Apron, Bombzie's BBQ, and Dragon Rouge.
