Unemployed Reporter Porter: The Beer for Disgruntled Journalists Everywhere
Get a group of reporters together on a Friday night, get a few drinks in 'em, and before long the conversation will inevitably turn to lamenting print journalism's long, painful slide into irrelevance. Now there's a beer designed to accompany these late-night exercises in depression.

Jon Campbell was once a reporter for the Hartford Advocate; now he's a freelance writer brewing Unemployed Reporter Porter in his free time. Of which he willingly admits there is a lot, and some of which he spends crafts his sharp and incisive label copy, describing the beer as "dark and bitter as the future of American journalism," and containing "a high alcohol content designed to numb the pain of a slow, inexorable march toward obsolescence." Zing!

Campbell's brewing production is currently limited to a 5-gallon bucket in his closet, so, you know, no plans for distribution anytime soon. But considering that some estimates put the number of laid-off journalists as high as 15,000 since 2008, it seems like there's a built-in demographic for his brew if he chooses to put it on the market.
Either way, we're raising a pint in solidarity.
