Eat Your Heart Out at the Grand Cafe Later This Month
The Grand Cafe has announced a special menu for the last weekend in January that's not for the faint of heart (sorry, we couldn't resist). As part of its ongoing Misfit Dinner series, which looks to celebrate unusual animal cuts and preparations beyond traditional French brasserie fare, chef Alicia Jenish has decided to serve an a la carte menu focusing on the hearts of guinea hen, beef, and pig.

Here's the full rundown, in all of its offal glory:
- Guinea hen heart poppers, curry aioli, fried pickles: $12.
- Beef heart tartar, house made crackers, mustard and pickled hearts of palm: $14.
- Grilled pig heart, cabbage rolls, mustard vinaigrette: $14.
- Grilled beef heart, pomme anna, gypsy broccoli, lemon, bone marrow, sherry cream: $28.
While it seems like cooked hearts are more suited to Valentine's Day (or maybe that's just because we're single), these dishes will be available from Thursday, Jan. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 27 along with the regular menu. The restaurant is also offering a special V-day menu including baked oysters, lobster, scallops, oven-baked brie with honey and oranges, and a $64 rib eye steak for two with red wine sauce and marrow butter.
