Shopping Last-Minute? Even Apartment Dwellers Appreciate the Gift of Herb Plants
All through December, SFoodie is bringing you local gift ideas for the food obsessives in your life.
Mary Ladd Florida citrus tree at Flora Grubb.
Whenever someone gifts me a plant, I'm charmed and happy that my friends notice I have learned how to nourish and keep delicate and even beautiful plants alive in my modest Mission dwelling. Whether your giftee has the greenest of thumbs or is more of a "wait and see" shy gardening type, it's off to the solar powered Flora Grubb Gardens you go. The space is in Bayview District and sports easy-peasy parking, Ritual Roasters coffee and Black Jet Bakery pastries to keep your shopping energy from flagging. Flora's boasts a nice sale running now through December 24.

Peek at felty adorable ornaments. Nab some succulents to line their Wooly Pocket planters in fine fashion like the ones at Local Mission Eatery (insider tip: you really do need a drill to install your Wooly Pocket). At Flora Grubb yesterday, Daniel the handsome staffer said the sale is a great time to gift citrus plants, herb plants and seeds for Bay Area apartment dwellers. Way to put some "grow" in their holiday glow!
