Edible Excursions
All through December, SFoodie is bringing you local gift ideas for the food obsessives in your life.

A full belly, who could ask for anything more? Gift a healthy dose of living food history with ample chances to nosh via the walking tours from Edible Excursions ($50 to $95). Bonus for the food TV geeks! There's the possible chance to chat in person with TV star chef Preeti Mistry, who occasionally moonlights for the tour company. Think you know it all when it comes to the food, culture and history of our fair nabes? Edible Excursions walks you right into insider-y peeks at hot spots like Delfina, Saul's Deli, Tartine Bakery, Recchiuti Confections and Boccalone. A Temescal walking tour is due to launch in February 2013, and was created with input from food writer Sarah Henry.

Edible Excursions
Edible Excursions is run by Lisa Rogovin, who is based in San Francisco. She started the roving food tour company after an Eat Pray Love experience where she kissed goodbye a sales job with Gourmet mag and traveled the world for a year.

Edible Excursions cover the Mission with separate tours for 18th Street and 24th Street. Our personal favorite is the Gourmet Ghetto tour in Berkeley, where you can hear fun details on how that neighborhood launched a way of eating and cooking that was a big shift in cultural norms. Full disclosure: I worked as a guide for Rogovin and can safely vouch for the filling fun that these tours offer. SF Weekly named Edible Excursions' Taste the Mission Tour as The Best Way to Eat Your Way Through the Mission last year.
