Bike Basket Pies Comes Out of Retirement for One Night Only
Bike Basket Pies Pop-Up Pie Party![]()
Flickr/termie Bike Basket Pies makes a quick comeback this weekend.
Where: The Unresolved Love Life of Evelyn Lee, 491 Potrero (at Mariposa), 625-3362
When: Sun., Dec. 30, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Cost: $4 per pie
The rundown: Devouring the handheld sweet and savory offerings from Bike Basket Pies was a really cool part of the 2009 wave of street food vendors that made the Mission a tastier place to be. Founder Natalie Galatzer baked and biked the pies to your door, but decided to end the project in 2011 after publishing a booklet of her secrets. She now teaches the occasional pie-making workshop at kitchenware shop Pot + Pantry but no longer sells pies on the regular, which makes this one-night break from retirement a very special opportunity for deliciousness.

Galatzer will hit the most randomly named bar in San Francisco with pear ginger, shaker lemon, and potato, leek, and cheddar pies. Buy some extra and freeze them, and please do your best to sweet talk her into future pop-up pie parties.
