The rundown: Oakland's Eat Real Fest is testing out their party vibe in the North Bay with the first Autumn Fest this weekend. Like the recent event in Jack London Square, it has an emphasis on local artisan food -- eating it, learning to make it, and tips to cultivate great home gardens. If you missed Eat Real, this is a great way to see what the organization is doing.

Other highlights include a pumpkin patch corn-shucking contest, a cook-off for kids, and a pie battle. For the event, Marin Country Mart is making a donation to the Food Craft Institute, the new educational arm of Eat Real. The event is conveniently located by the Larkspur Ferry Terminal in case you don't want to confront weekend traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge.
