Six Places to Feast on BRAAAINS in S.F.

Everyone knows that zombies prefer only one thing: BRAAAINS. (They're like koalas, with eucalyptus). But short of going on a massacre, where do the living dead actually find them in San Francisco?

Since we condemn in the strongest terms the killing and mutilating of people to get at their delicious BRAAAINS, here are six alternatives for satiating your hunger.

Locanda
This Roman-style Osteria has an entire section of its menu ("Quarto Quinto") devoted to all manner of offal, and occasionally offers items such as fried lamb's brain with artichokes. In case of a zombie apocalypse, consider a table at Locanda for that one final ecstatic dining experience, or else begin adjusting yourself to your new diet.

El Tonayense/Taquería Vallarta
Sesos (calf's brains) are common enough in Mexican and Central American cuisines, but for go-to spots, you can't beat this taco truck and brick-and-mortar taquería. Availability comes and goes at each, but when lengua (tongue) and tripita (tripe, or the lining of a calf's stomach) can't satisfy your offal cravings, sometimes only brains can.

Shalimar
Sometimes, the quality of the food is inversely proportional to the comfort of the surroundings. If you don't mind occasionally sticky surfaces and dining with folks who may be actual zombies, this Tenderloin Indian restaurant's lamb brain masala is an intensely flavorful experience,
velvety and buttery and totally unlike anything.
