S.F. Food Legend Jeremiah Tower's Kindle Quickie
Jeremiah Tower, the chef and former San Francisco restaurateur who left an indelible impression in molding "California cuisine" as a chef at Chez Panisse and with his Eighties restaurant Stars, has released a short e-book for Kindle. A Dash of Genius is ostensibly his ode to and a history of French culinary pioneer Auguste Escoffier (whose name now adorns a cooking school), but it also offers a lot of Tower's own cooking personality, with original recipes and adaptations of classic recipes made easier and more practical for the chef of the now.

The charm of this narrative is also cultural as Tower details the high society reception Escoffier received during his reign up until his death in 1935. Escoffier was a celebrity chef long before the Food Network came around.
