The Whole Beast's lamb poutine will be at Hardly Strictly.
So maybe you've heard: there's a lot going on in San Francisco this weekend. And it will likely result in transitpocalypse. But that doesn't mean you can't eat delicious things while you're having a ton of fun. Check out these food events on the fringes of the insanity that is America's Cup exhibition races, Fleet Week, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, Litquake, the opening of Uniqlo, the Italian Heritage Parade, the Castro Street Fair, the 49ers game, and the Giants playoffs. Let's do this!

World Veg Fest (Sat & Sun, $10)
Though Hardly Strictly will have more than 30 food vendors of its own, take a break (pre- or post-ingesting our recommended edibles) and wander over to this annual event hosted by the San Francisco Vegetarian Society in Golden Gate Park. Expect new and novel vegan products, a large amount of T-shirts and stickers, lectures on various aspects of vegetarian and veganism, great people-watching, and a vegan meal both nights at 6:45 p.m. for an extra $26.

Wet Hop Beer Events in the East Bay (Sat & Sun)
It also just so happens to be hop harvest season, which means that local brewers are getting in the wet-hop beer action and celebrating like mad. Saturday brings the monthly open house at Drake's Brewery in San Leandro, doubling as the debut of Batch 4000, a wet-hopped version of their fantastic 1500 Pale Ale brewed with fresh Simcoe and Citra hops. On Sunday, head to the Wet Hop Beer Fest at the Bistro in Hayward for the largest selection of wet-hopped beers in the Bay Area. Expect twenty-some odd fresh brews from the likes of Moonlight, Sierra, Moylan's, etc.

Off the Pier (Sat)
Off the Grid will be hosting a smaller version of its massive Friday night food market in honor of San Francisco Fleet Weekend and the America's Cup. Street food from 20 vendors (expected highlights: Municher, Creme Brulee Truck, Sanguchon, the Fish Tank), plus wine, beer, and cocktails. Arrive early if you want to take in the Air Show, which starts at 12:30 p.m., glimpse the America's Cup race (1:50-2:30 p.m.) or the Blue Angels, who will fly from 3-4 p.m.

Food Truck Frenzy 10: Blue Angels Edition (Sat, $5 in advance or $10 at the door)
As an alternative place to view the Blue Angel action, check out this food truck rally out on Alameda's old Naval Air Station. Wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase along with food from Le Truc, Arki Truck, Veritas, Bombzies BBQ, Streatery, Tandori Chicken Mobile, Sweet Treat Stop, Munch India, Surano Burger, Grillaz Gone Wild, Cocco Tutti, Pietisserie and Boffo Cart.

Picnic at the Presidio (Sun)
Off the Grid is hosting this first of weekly picnics in the Presidio, on the lawn at the Main Post. Instead the usual food trucks, the event will feature bites from established restaurants like Nopalito, Dixie, Bar Crudo, Wing Wings, and Chotto, along with food vendors selling treats like pickles, fresh produce, and syrup to go with the prepared food. Plus, there will be small-batch cocktails like mimosas and bloody Marys prepared "blanket-side," along with kites, bocce ball kits and horseshoes for rent. Sounds like fun to us!
