At some point in your life, you may have cracked open whatever beer was in the fridge, unwrapped a Kraft single, and went to town. Don't worry; we aren't the types to judge. But allow us to recommend an event that goes far beyond macro lager and chemically enhanced "cheese products" -- 'From Ales To Fromage', a beer and cheese tasting event from Master Cicerone Rich Higgins, local beer scene fixture Heather Castro, and Public House restaurant.

This event not only allows guests to experience pairings of beer and cheese curated by one of the only Master Cicerones in the country, but also allows for comparisons of regional approaches to various beer styles. Guests can enjoy multiple tastings at four stations, each of which pair a world class cheese with two regional interpretations of a given beer style. Higgins has chosen some of the best beers that the country has to offer, including beer not typically available on the West Coast and one brew made especially for the event.

Attendees are invited to taste at their own pace, and are welcome to partake in seminars led by Higgins. Details for the event, including a beer and cheese list, are available below. Look forward to the beginning of the year, when we'll preview the next event in the series, an exploration of cheese paired with California craft beers. And when pitting the West and East coast brews against one another, be sure to holler "westsiiiiiiiide!" from time to time. You never know when Tupac is listening.
