The rundown: Don Bugito, the local "prehistoric snackeria," is responsible for all the insect street food treats that are sold at Off The Grid's Fort Mason market on Friday nights. They've been slowly converting locals to the nutritional benefits and mild flavors of bugs and now will arm home cookers with the knowledge to take it to their own kitchen.

This particular session is slanted towards Halloween, so you'll be making insect confections. On the agenda: Hand-dipped chocolate crickets and crispy mealworm mix. The fear factor is high here at what might be San Francisco's most daring cooking class of all time.
