The rundown: The annual World Veg Festival, hosted by the San Francisco Vegetarian Society, is always a good opportunity for grazing on new and novel vegan products, stocking up on the latest veg T-shirts and stickers (ranging from humorous to shock propaganda), and getting in some people-watching before spending the rest of the afternoon wandering Golden Gate Park.

This year, the event gets, um, beefier with the hosting of the 40th IVU International Vegetarian Congress. That means a longer schedule that includes the option to take in more speakers, workshops, and demos. There is also a vegan catered dinner each night at 6:45 p.m. for an additional cost of $26.
