Get Artisan Ice Cream Delivered to Your Door
No need to chase down the ice cream man or head to the corner store for a pint of Ben & Jerry's anymore -- Tin Pot Creamery, a new ice cream company in the Bay Area, makes snagging dessert easier than ever by hand-delivering quarts right to your front door.
Pastry chef Becky Sunseri and partner/ fellow ice cream enthusiast Brigette Lau were inspired by artisan ice cream shops in San Francisco and wanted to bring the concept to the greater Bay Area. The two liked the notion of putting baked goods into ice cream, and Sunseri has been concocting flavors such as Coffee with Cocoa Nib and Praline; Earl Grey Tea and Shortbread; and Salted Butterscotch with Gooey Brownies ever since.
Their handmade ice cream is made with locally grown, seasonal, organic ingredients, and because of the natural flavors it isn't too sweet or syrupy. Sunseri and Lau hope to entice ingredient-focused customers with new and sophisticated flavor combinations and textures that will keep them ordering.
The partners have created an ice cream of the month club where subscribers receive a new flavor at the end of each month. The August creation is a subtly alcoholic Bourbon with Oatmeal Pecan Cookies, and after an easy online signup and the duo will deliver their delectable dessert to your home or business ($18 per quart). The delivery area spans from San Francisco to Campbell.
But hand deliveries and the subscription business are only the beginning. The two women have also added event catering while they look for a brick-and-mortar locale, most likely in Palo Alto.
"We didn't want to wait to start selling ice cream to people while we were looking for a shop," Sunseri said.
Fortunately for Bay Area ice cream aficionados, they didn't.
