Porkapalooza Brings Out the Bacon This Sunday
It's been way too long since you last watched a pig get butchered on a pool table, right? Well, Citizen's Band is throwing a party for you. This Sunday, Sept. 16, the Americana-heavy bistro is teaming up with neighbor Bloodhound to bring you Porkapalooza: the ultimate pork-themed party.
Citizen's Band's Chris Beerman will be manning the pig roast, whose succulent cuts will be dished out for a Southern style plate with BBQ sauce and white bread, while other other pig-centric bites make their way around the room along with Bloodhound-furnished drinks. Munchies will include chili-braised pork sliders with pickled jalapeño slaw, bacon beignets with maple anglaise, sour ale cotechino with sweet garlic mustard on rye, and ginger and scallion roasted mini pork spare ribs.
If that's just not enough pig for you, Beerman will be selling the singular prime cuts from his live butchery tutorial as well as pork brine for anyone who wants to bring the party home. If you've never been to Bloodhound, picture a modern hunting lodge (even their website has a built-in hunting game which is oddly difficult, not that we've stayed up late trying to beat it or anything). Between the atmosphere and Citizen Band's upscaled American roadside food, this ought to be a bona fide primal and delicious meat party. We're not sure what's more exciting: the maple/bacon pastry bombs or getting to bring "pork brine" home from a bar.
The event is a collaboration with Scoutmob, who is presenting the event as part of its new "Handpicked" series that aims to uncover and curate unique local experiences in the city. One ticket ($60) gets you picks from all the pork fixin's, access to the butchery demo, one glass of specialty punch, and one drink of choice.
