SF Weekly's DISH Preview: Mini-Arepas at Maite Catering
We've been fans of La Cocina alum Maite Catering's arepas for a while at pop-ups around town. Similar to Salvadorean papusas, arepas are a Colombian snack made with cooked arepa flour, stuffed with cheese, and filled.
This Sunday, Maite Catering will be one of 40 restaurants participating in SF Weekly's annual dining event, whose proceeds benefit La Cocina. Owner Constanza Ortiz will be dishing up mini-arepas filled with salsa verde pulled pork and topped with a smoky aoili.
The final lineup at SF Weekly's dining event includes Sol Food, Pica Pica Maize Kitchen, Carmel Pizza Co., and Farallon, not to mention plenty of wine, beer, and spirits. And as an SFoodie reader, you get $10 off the ticket price just by typing "sfoodie" in the space for the discount code.
